A little rock and roll today: Cage the Elephant
My niece is 14, and she’s been through about a dozen musical evolutions over the past two years. She sang a Taylor Swift song for her middle school talent show. By Christmas of last year, she was digging hard on some punk-ska band whose name I can’t recall at the moment.
About a week ago, she clued me in to her new favorite band of all time: Mumford & Sons. So, I’m beginning to think her musical taste is veering away from what the media tells me 14-year-old girls are listening to, and more toward the kind of stuff I dig. In other words, I’m thinking maybe I can start calling my niece when I need to hear about a great new band I might really like.
Today, she posted a video for the song above, by this band, Cage the Elephant.
I liked it so much, I came here to share with you folks. Looks like Craig Young beat me to it, though, with a video posting about a year ago.
There’s a little bit of an Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros energy to these guys. A little Beck, a little G. Love. They’re from the great music mecca of Bowling Green, Kentucky. See what you think.
