EDITOR’S NOTE: Welcome to No Depression’s new “Postcard From” series, where we ask artists for a dispatch from their daily lives on the road, in the studio, or anywhere in between. Our next installment comes from Twang, an up-and-coming Danish bluegrass trio we discovered at Tønder Festival and Folk Spot Denmark this summer.
This picture was taken at the legendary Tønder Festival in Denmark, moments before we got on the biggest stage we have ever performed on. We had been driving for several hours, since way before sunrise, coming from another gig on the other end of Denmark in order to make it in time for soundcheck. The place was packed to the brim and we had an amazing experience. We all agreed that being a little tired and worn out had worked to our advantage. Otherwise, the nerves might’ve gotten a hold of us.
For many folk musicians in Denmark, it’s a big goal to play at Tønder Festival. It certainly has been for us! It’s one of the biggest and oldest folk festivals in Denmark, and one of the most prominent in all of Europe. During the four days of the festival the whole town of Tønder is transformed to one big festival and party centered around folk music.
Brad Wagner of I Know We Should was also at Tønder Festival and recorded Twang playing an exclusive set on-site, but off the beaten path. Check out two exclusive songs below.
