It’s a Tuesday night in a college town, and when you pull up to the venue you find a spot right in front. You walk in, no line, no wait. You get inside and it’s not crowded at all. Not much to expect, I guess.
But I got blown away. I saw one of the best shows I have seen in quite a while.
There are a couple of phrases I use to describe things in the highest of terms. Aaron Lee Tasjan and his band ALT were the real deal. They were absolutely brutal, and not to sound too dramatic, it was one of those shows I will be bragging about years from now.
What made this night so special? Tasjan writes great songs and he can play his guitar. His singing hit the groove and was full of passion and emotion. Plus, he brought along one hell of a band. Brian Wright played guitar and sang, Keith Christopher played bass, and Chris Marine played the drums. Every one of these guys are seasoned, brutal players and they clicked, and they rocked.
The thought about this show that is at the fore in my mind right now is that you have to see this show. All four of these musicians are stellar. This line-up is on tour for only a short time. If you can get to a show, do it. Drive too far, miss a lot of sleep, tick off your wife, skip your kid’s recital, and get to Aaron Lee Tasjan and his ALT Band.
