DEFINITELY WORTH A LISTEN – “DOS” from Richard Cagle

“DOS” The most recent CD from Richard Cagle and the Voodoo Choir is a collection of thirteen guitar driven Blues Rock tunes from the Lone Star State of Texas.

There’s always been a rockin’ style of Blues Music, indigenous to Texas and Richard Cagle and the Voodoo Choir are certainly carrying on the tradition… Richard Cagle was raised in the small Texas Panhandle town of Dumas, where he started his first band “Shades of Time” with, the legendary Texas musician, Joe “King” Carrasco. Another notable musician from the rural town of Dumas was Tommy Shannon. Tommy is best known as a member of Double Trouble, the blues-rock band led by Stevie Ray Vaughan. So it appears that fronting The Voodoo Choir was in the cards for Richard Cagle from childhood.

Fans of ZZ Top, Albert Collins and Stevie Ray Vaughan, will appreciate the searing guitar work of Lee Martin combined with the stellar musicianship of Richard Cagle and the Voodoo Choir… From the slow traditional feel of “Crying the Blues” to the subtle guitar lines slithering behind sultry vocals on “Love Ya Need Ya” and contiuing with the powerful rock arrangement of “Thunder Lightning“, “DOS” delivers satisfaction on all thirteen tracks…
