When you come across an artist with such a unique name there is a story. Well with Nudie (government name not revealed to protect the innocent) is such an artist. “I have such a regular name that I figure nobody would remember me, so at shows people started calling me Nudie, it stuck, I liked it..and heck I’m still gigging.” Nudie stated.
With the release of Everything’s Different In The Night, Nudie creates new molds for such a classic sound. Full of upright bass, steel guitar and soulful lyrics, this album has just about everything you could want. “Scariest part of the whole thing was, I never played with anyone in the studio, I just figured..well here goes everything.”
That relationship of singer/band, really comes through in the title track as well as “Mr. Why’d You Come to Texas.”
“Royal Tavern,” came about with an old friend re-connecting with Nudie after 30 years. “Totally took me aback. This guy just found me on social media and started talking about the old times. This song really hit with me..They lyric “It’s found with little drunk men and big hard women,” came from me friend”
“Train, You Took My Baby,” harkened back to some of the classic train songs. “I listened to a lot of train songs, problem was they all talked about American cities. VIA RAil basically paid my way across Canada, and that’s how this song came about.”
Heartfelt lyrics, soulful singing and heady guitar play make Everything’s Different In The Night, a diamond in the rough.
