Free Willy’s stunning new release “Remember the Alamo,” is an indie folk dream. The group of seasoned musicians prominently place their name into the 2017 musical hat, with an enchanting release that will fit your Alt-Country needs. The record is beautifully crafted from start to finish, as it proves to be a labor of love for the band. A number of years in the making songwriting wise, Free Willy enchants with an eclectic and deep sound that will have you falling in love. Hailing from the heart of Texas, the classic lyricism shows the heart and soul of the band.
We hear singer W.B. Jones taking center stage with carefully crafted words, that spill from his heart and pen in unison. Surrounding his graceful words and rhythm guitar player, we hear Jim Taylor on back up vocals and bass, Spence Peppard on back up vocals, lead guitar, and drums, Kevin Carter on fiddle and mandolin and Steve DeVries on banjo and harmonica. Are you impressed yet? You should be!
Throughout the record we hear the new bands of legends come to life in ways that make their music go above and beyond the call of duty to impress. As all of the tunes stand out in their own special way, songs such as “Down the Track,” and “Get in the Car,” grabbed me from the very beginning, as they drew me in further in love with the record. Free Willy has quickly become one of my favorite new acts of 2017, and within one listen of “Remember the Alamo,” you will certainly see why!
