Kacy & Clayton Explore a Strange Country
Kacy Anderson and Clayton Linthicum – Kacy & Clayton – deliver a refreshing album of folk-twinged originals that stands far above their counterparts. The craft and musicianship displayed throughout Strange Country belies the young ages of these 2nd cousins from rural Saskatchewan (Kacy is 19, Clayton is 21).
Strange Country plays like a lost gem from the Smithsonian Folkways catalog with Kacy Anderson’s angelic tenor juxtaposed across Clayton Linthicum’s decidedly perfect strummed and fingerpicked acoustic guitar parts. Unlike many of today’s bands that falsely thump their Americana/Folk hearts, one gets a sense that Kacy & Clayton have lived inside the Smithsonian collection before embarking into this realm.
In a perfect world, Strange Country would be no stranger to radio and would an LP on every folk-loving, Americana-thumping music lover’s record player.
