MARCY Debuts Strong EP, “Art / Entertainment” for your Indie -Folk Needs
Meet one of the front-runners of the current day indie-folk scene, MARCY. Hailing from New Jersey, Marcy is the moniker and creation of multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter, Ryan Tunney, who is creating music on his own terms.
Today the ambitious artist shares his debut EP, “Art / Entertainment,” which is bound to be one of your top 10 contenders for 2018. Though he cites inspirations as Bon Iver and Father John Misty as current day influences, there is also a feel of early career Bright Eyes added to the mix…..which won me over in a heartbeat.
The 3-track EP is filled to the brim with indie-folk goodness that relates to audiences across the board. Drawing from places that are mostly personal yet resonates with the masses, “Art / Entertainment” quickly provides a “satirical view of modern society considering religion, protests, technology, as well touching on love and relationships.”
Tunney’s lyrics are soft-spoken and heartfelt, which is a heavy element placed strategically on the album. One of my personal favorite songs is “Social Purity,” which is filled with harmonies to die for. “Are you doing what you believe in or are you somebody else; Are you really about the protest or are you about yourself,” croons Tunney.
An artist to watch for 2018, we are pleasantly pleased with “Art / Entertainment.” More please!
