Matt Bradford Shares “Better Roads Ahead”

“Better Roads Ahead,” There’s beauty in the unearthly quality of Matt Bradford’s voice. Throughout his new project, “Better Roads Ahead,” he sings in a ruminative alto that is able to bend in directions that defy the shape and scope of the human form. On the album’s stunning opener, “Villain,” Matt’s voice is coupled perfectly with a bevy of sounds from classic guitar strums to perfectly blended drum cadences. The track is filled with passion and purity. Matt’s riff’s teeter the line of classic rock and folk blends effortlessly making this a definite stand out track.
But don’t label Matt as one dimensional there are more traditional moments like “Broken” and “Better Roads Ahead,” where Bradford remains front-and-center over guitar driven soundtracks, or moments where you can hear him as a compromise between a broken-angel croon and beautiful celestial melodies. However, one of my favorite stand outs on the project is, “Faded Name,” Bradford’s gorgeous range and idiosyncratic voice is on full display, there’s a sweeping whisper undertone in the song just enough to float you into to the tranquil melody. It’s almost like a soft conversation between Bradford’s voice and the instrumentation; and it’s such a perfect combo. Overall, “Better Roads Ahead,” is an amazing album that leaves you wondering what his next pivot could be.
“Better Roads Ahead” is out everywhere, today.
