Molly Hanmer & The Midnight Tokers release new single
Molly Hanmer & The Midnight Tokers are on the scene with their second single, “Drag You Along,” from their forthcoming album, Stuck In A Daydream, which promises to be a top shelf release. With the already well-acclaimed release, “Fools Run,” for which there is a promo video, to help present the group before releasing this track, so it’s worth investigating both singles to get to the album they’re featured on, releasing this November. Molly Hanmer is a premiere musician and then some, not only with a voice of gold, but is also an awesome songwriter with an exceptional band behind her, The Midnight Tokers, and you never know what to expect from their textured shadows.
“Drag You Along” is where some of their Americana appeal can be found in one smooth track with an understated backing from the musicians over the world class singing of Hanmer. This isn’t a voice you’ll hear on every station but it’s a voice that should be aired far and wide as she serves up the quality any self-respecting artist dreams of; it’s that special. She sounds like no one, but she also sounds familiar, and it’s a breath of fresh air from the get go on this hot single of colossal proportion. Between her and the band they take you all the way home for what it’s worth.

If you’ve listened to their first single from this upcoming album, you’ll notice a stark contrast in the tunes to conclude the amount of variety going on and it only helps anticipate an album when the first set of singles show that much diversity. They succeed at enticing you for the LP, and that’s the whole idea of pre-releasing singles, it just doesn’t always make the mark but also doesn’t always hurt an album either. It’s just important to lead with at least one or two tracks, and some are even releasing more, which gets to be overkill and wind up with six singles off the album. I think two is a sufficient-amount for this album’s lead.
The song takes you on a ride and the words get into the advisory that dreams are as real as you make them, and reality can’t change that as you move forward and live out your dreams. “There’s no stopping this ride” is the way she puts the subject, and it works wonders with the understated instrumental backing. It’s an extraordinary track, written by Molly Hanmer, produced by Marvin Etzioni, engineered by Sheldon Gomberg and Billy Mims, and the percussion by Keith Palmer is absolutely (remove hyphen) fantastic.
If you haven’t heard this band, they’re based out of LA and include guest appearances by Marvin Etzioni and Ashley Jarmack, who play Cajon drums and alto and bass flutes for a soothing ambiance that won’t quit once you hear “Drag You Along” and others. The immediate consensus I come to is this band are is going places with their enormously eclectic sound and approach to killer songwriting. The track does more than averagely prepare you for a well manifested album you can tell just by hearing one or two of the tracks from, that Molly Hanmer & The Midnight Tokers are worth your time and money.
