The Silks – Last American Band
I came across The Silks because of bobstinsonsghost (Jim Clarke) so thanks Jim!
We are both Paul Westerberg and Replacements fans and Westerberg + Friends produced this album for The Silks and also plays rhythm guitar on a track as well.
The Silks are a 3 piece Blues Rock band and I have to say is I haven’t heard Blues Rock played this powerfully in years!
They are like a cross between Lynyrd Skynyrd, Stevie Ray, and The Allman Brothers but stripped down to only 3.
Members of the band are: Tyler-James Kelly – Guitar / Lead Vocal, Matthew Donnelly – Drums / vox, and Jonas Parmelee – Bass / vox.
When asked in an interview where his love of Appalachian music/Southern music comes from Tyler-James Kelly responded “I’m a sucker for guitar music, I love guitar music and fiddle music, I love melodies and stuff like that, I love attitude…. any music that has fiddle, guitar especially, and attitude I’m there, you know”
