Wayne Hancock’s first studio record since 2001 offers nothing more or less than the usual Hancock fare: songs you can swing your gal around the dance floor to, songs you can swig your beer down to when she leaves you, and songs such as “Ain’t Gonna Worry No More”, telling you to let it go because there’s nothing more you can do. Hancock is one of the few artists whose if-ain’t-broke-don’t-fix-it philosophy hasn’t morphed into a stale formula; he’s not looking to simply preserve antiques or overstuff his wallet, but rather to perpetuate the spirit, as the musical greats he emulates did, that tells the tale of your life true as death, mystifying as God.
