Alice Cooper, his snake, and a bid to end teenage cancer
One of the big surprises for me this year was watching Alice Cooper. Ok, he’s not Americana and only tangentially roots music. But in the belief that all music must be shared, I simply mention to you that his concert was fantastic (particularly his tribute to dead musician “friends” John Lennon, Jimmy Hendrix, Jim Morrison and Keith Moon). Who knew?
Anyway, the reason I bring it up now is because Fairport Convention, the British folk rock legends, are auctioning a T-shirt signed by Alice, 10CC, The Levellers, Peatbog Faeries and Fairport themselves. All of them played at Fairport’s Cropredy festival this summer.
The auction is in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust (TCT). The signatures are on the front so the T-shirt can be framed for display. The online auction closes on 18 December and the T-shirt will be posted to the winning bidder in time for Christmas.
You can find the link here. Here’s one of my Alice photos in the meantime. Yes. He brought the snake.
