All Over the Map

This week’s new release spotlight falls on four albums that couldn’t be much more different from one another. Easily at the front of the pack is a brand new disc from the incredible Bonnie Raitt. Reviewer Grant Britt found Raitt in full-throttle ass-kicking mode on this disc, with a hand full of well-chosen covers and a slew of powerful originals. There’s also fresh takes on bluegrass standards, on a double disc from Michael Daves. Dreamy folk-pop from Vandaveer, and some straight-up fine Americana from relative newcomer Burnell Pines. So much great music, so little time.
