Americana Boogie music releases for the week of Nov. 19th…. Jason Isbell, Doug Sahm both live, Graham Parker…
JASON ISBELL & THE 400 UNIT
Live From Alabama (Lightning Rod)
Since leaving the Drive-By Truckers in ’07, Isbell has released more albums with his current group, the 400 Unit, than he did with his old band. Live In Alabama, in his home state, mixes some of Jason’s older material with his more recent repertoire, many songs are strethed out and feature his fine lead guitar work. The album closes with a scorching cover of Neil Young’s “Like a Hurricane.”
GRAHAM PARKER & THE RUMOUR
Three Chords Good (Primary Wave)
2012 album from the British singer/songwriter, who has reunited his original band for their first album together in 31 years. The collection’s 12 original tracks were recorded in upstate New York and feature the classic Rumour line-up of Brinsley Schwarz and Martin Belmont on guitars, Steve Goulding on drums, Andrew Bodnar on bass and Bob Andrews on keyboards. ”After a hiatus of over 30 years, it was extraordinary to hear the Rumour backing my material again,” says Parker. ”We’ve finally made an album of true musical collaboration that we’re all very proud of.”
