Smoke & Mirrors (Back 9)
Bob Cheevers was named singer/songwriter of the year at the 2011 Texas Music Awards. Reuniting with long time musical partner Charlie White who produced Cheevers’ debut CD, Gettysburg To Graceland, Smoke is a swampy collection of great band recordings of Cheevers’ signature story songs while the 2nd CD Mirrors is a more intimate, acoustic leaning set. Ray Wylie Hubbard says “Bob Cheevers is one cool scarecrow gypsy poet who writes and sings the romantic beautiful truth. When he releases a record, I listen.”

Robert Randolph Presents: The Slide Brothers (Concord)
Sacred steel guitarist Robert Randolph has gathered together the leading players of the genre for a recent recording, paying tribute to the past, and covering tunes outside the cannon. The Slide Brothers are Calvin Cooke, Chuck Campbell, Darick Campbell and Aubrey Ghent, each of whom was raised worshiping and performing in the church. Inspired by Randolph to finally emerge beyond their respected positions within the sacred steel community, the Slide Brothers tackle rock, funk and even the deepest blues with a ferocity that will startle fans of Duane Allman, Derek Trucks and even Muddy Waters.
