Counterfeit Blues (New West)

On very short notice, Canadian Roots artist Corb Lund was given the chance to record an album at the legendary Sun Studios in Memphis. There were two challenges, it would be filmed for a CMT-TV special and he had two days to record. Taking advantage of Sun’s record live on the floor nature, Corb re-recorded many of his most popular songs with the added raw Sun Studios energy. A bonus DVD includes Memphis Sun, the nearly hour long TV special featuring interviews and performances.

The band got its’ start busking on street corners in New York state and up through Canada, winning audiences along the way with their boundless energy and spirit. They eventually found themselves in Boone, N.C., where they caught the attention of Doc Watson while playing in front of a pharmacy. He immediately invited the band to play at his MerleFest, helping to launch their career. It’s been over fifteen years since these humble beginnings, and the band has gone on to tour the world, and become the latest artists inducted into the Grand Ole Opry. They continue to be one of the most popular young bands working today. 

JONAH TOLCHIN
Clover Lane (Yep Roc)

As a songwriter, Jonah bridges the gap between classic folk self-sufficiency and punk’s DIY defiance; he plays everything from roots and Americana music to old time folk and acoustic blues. The album was recorded quickly and spontaneously in Nashville with an impressive cast of characters that include Chris Scruggs, Steve Berlin (Los Lobos), John McCauley (Deer Tick) and Mickey Raphael.
