There are lots of reasons, let’s hope, to look forward to 2022, and Aoife O’Donovan announced today she is adding another: a new solo album, titled Age of Apathy, coming out Jan. 21 on Yep Roc Records.
Produced by Joe Henry, the album features collaborations with Allison Russell and Madison Cunningham in songs that reckon with the digital age.
O’Donovan recorded Age of Apathy in Florida, via an arrangement with studios and engineer Darren Schneider at Full Sail University, and collaborating with Henry remotely the whole time. The process, which found her also working remotely with bassist David Piltch and drummer Jay Bellerose, added new sounds to her arrangements, according to a press release announcing the album, and allowed her to take her time instead of compressing recording into short breaks between tours.

O’Donovan is currently touring in the US and has tour dates set for Europe, then more of the US, in 2022.
