Producer, arranger and renowned studio hand ARIF MARDIN died June 25 in New York after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. During his career, much of it spent with Atlantic Records, Mardin worked with Aretha Franklin, Dusty Springfield, Norah Jones, Queen, and dozens of others. Among his eleven Grammys were two for producer of the year. He was 74 and co-general manager of Manhattan Records at the time of his death.
