Austin Lucas – Somebody Loves You
A fantastic album from a fantastic singer, Austin Lucas is smooth sounding singer, who delivers ballads like a man who has had nothing but heartache all of his life. The album IS good but to be honest I found it hard to listen to, about ninety percent of the CD is sad songs and as much as I like a depressing song it kind of got to me. I listened to it as I wrote this and it was hard to not stop and just listen to Austin sing, that’s about all you do, sit and listen. But again, the album is good; I can’t tell you just how good I really think it is.
If you think you might recognize Austin Lucas, or that his voice sounds familiar then you may have been a fan of one of his previous bands, Rune, Guided Cradle, or Twenty Third Chapter. Lucas is a man of many musical backgrounds (at least two,) he made his bones by playing on the “DIY” punk circuit.
Somebody Loves You could only be farther from Punk if it was a Gospel album firmly planted in Americana/Blue Grass and if you enjoy country music just a little bit this should be an album on your “To Buy” list, just remember to have your handkerchief at the ready.
