The Rolling Hills Folk club started to great acclaim in October 2006. The club takes its name from the Matt McGinn song The Rolling Hills of The Borders. There is room for about 40 people or so, which presents a more personal and intimate space in which to sing and play. We hope to encourage young and old alike whether singers or/and musicians to contribute to the evening.
The Hotel offers not only accommodation but an excellent menu – making for the possibility of a complete night out with good food, songs and music and somewhere to rest your head.

“The Travs”, as it is known locally, is a smart Victorian-era Public House with five distinct areas, built in 1897. Licencees Kevin and Jackie Bailey have made many improvements but tried to keep the old Victorian ambience – although with a modern touch.
The Travellers Rest has developed quite a name for itself as a live music venue. Our Acoustic Live Lounge on Wednesdays is especially good because it allows you to get up close to the artists in a small intimate venue. Appearing over the last few years have been many singer/songwriters from up and down the UK, as well as international artists from Australia, Canada and the U.S.A., all performing their own style of music, including Folk, Blues, Americana, Bluegrass and everything in between.

A acoustic open mic every Tuesday, at the Tap on Spring Bank in Hull. Running for over 5 years now, it’s become an evening that has acquired a national reputation for featuring a guest, from local singer-songwriters to national and international artists, opening the show. New players can see what’s happening at close hand, have a chat with the guest, then play through the same equipment. There is a good sound system in house, a bass player for anyone wanting some low notes, great interval music from days gone by to current artists, fabulous musicians that come along to share their talents and a regular audience of people that sit and listen, appreciate good music and enjoy a fun, warm and friendly atmosphere.
