A little bit of folk rock, psychedelia, americana, blues, and a whole lot of emotion. Bryant Alama is a singer-songwriter based out of Portland, Oregon who has been working hard under the radar at his trade for almost all of his 30 years. Alama’s lyrically-heavy, slightly-twangy take on rock&roll has drawn comparisons to Conor Oberst and Ryan Adams. Alama, a Minnesota native, draws heavily from the roots music revival that sprung up in his home state during the early 2000’s, led by artists such as Trampled by Turtles and Charlie Parr. Those Midwest roots eventually merged with a more modern/garagey, west-coast sound upon his arrival to Portland in 2010, giving the artist a sound unique to himself. Through his work fronting the bands Out of Dodge and Northern Currents, Alama has become somewhat of a staple in the Portland music scene. The fifteen tracks on his latest album "The Worst of Bryant Alama" offer up a collection of songs written and recorded throughout his six years in the Pacicifc Northwest. Alams's songs tell a multitude of semi-autobiographical tales about moving to new places, aging, love, heartache, friendship, substance abuse, death, depression, happiness...essentially all aspects of what it means to be a human on this planet. They're also pretty darn easy on the ears!
