Drew de Man

Songwright and multi-instrumentalist Drew de Man is a sculptor of sound, an archaeologist of folk styles, a true believer and a disciple of music. Hard at work for 30 years - first on guitar, then harmonica, banjo, mandolin, accordion...pedal steel, the list goes on - he has practiced the mystical and mundane art and craft of song. In the 90's, he played folk, blues and country around his hometown of Atlanta. In the 00's he took it on the road with the critically-lauded No River City, and later under the moniker Old Custer. As a sideman or fronting his own band, he has shared the stage at bars and clubs and festivals with the likes of Richard Buckner, Calexico, Iron & Wine, Drive-By Truckers and Mason Jennings, and has gigged and recorded with Brent Hinds of Mastodon, Jenn Rawling, and for many years Fast Rattler - a social justice-oriented americana band formed around Brendan Phillips, the son of folk icon Utah Phillips. Closest to his heart is Pretend Sweethearts, who released their first full length cd in 2014 and have been touring widely.
