When it comes to the life and music of legendary Delta bluesman Robert Johnson there’s not much that can be said that hasn’t been said many times over. But…being that May 8th of 2011 marks the 100-year anniversary of Johnson’s […]
For the last several years I have worked as a freelance music journalist, publishing regularly with a handful of publications. Mostly I do it for the press passes to shows and free releases for review, etc, because I am a complete music nerd whose tastes include a variety of genres and subgenres. Roots music is one of my favorites, though. And I have done reviews and interviewed a number of today's more worthwhile country, bluegrass, blues, roots rock, rockabilly, psychobilly, folk, folk-punk bands and singer-songwriters.

Fort Wayne, Indiana roots rock duo Left Lane Cruiser are preparing to unleash yet another countrified and blues-filled album on Alive Naturalsound Records. That’s right, singer and vocalist Fredrick J. Evans IV and drummer and junk percussionist Brenn “Sausage Paw” […]
James Lewis Carter Ford, also known by the moniker T-Model Ford, is the blues. That is to say, the blues isn’t just a way to describe his music but also his lifestyle – hard times and hard liquor, bad women […]
Emma Hill is one of those rare singer/songwriters whose heartfelt and well-written songs forego the surface of things entirely and hit home every time. That was the case with all of the songs on her 2009 full-length release “Clumsy […]
Having been born and raised in Pennsylvania, it is always nice when I come across a worthwhile band or singer/songwriter from my home state, whom I can interview, and about whom I can write an involved journalistic piece. In fact, […]
It is no secret that country music has really gone downhill in recent years, both in the mainstream and underground alike. In fact, many of the late, great progenitors of the movement – Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Woodie Guthrie, Waylon […]
