Well, since we last visited Hey Mavis, Tootsie Parker and her husband Stevie McGillicutty had another baby, this time a boy to go along with their two daughters. They packed up their car and headed west with band mate Mavis […]
Offering a heavy dose of Americana and twang about album reviews, concert previews, local musicians, and singer/songwriters. I have been writing Minkin’s Music since January of 2007 and found a home here on ND in 2010. My musical resume includes being the very first and longest corporate underwriter on public radio station WAPS 91.3 The Summit, a board member of the auxiliary group Plugged In at The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, the Northeast Ohio street team captain for Lost Highway Records, and a former board member of Friends of 91.3 The Summit. I am a Charter Member of The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland, a voting member of the Americana Music Association, and a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame & Museum in Nashville. A man who still plays Lp’s on his vintage Technics turntable, you can usually find Jay at area concerts and record stores looking to find new music that stirs his soul. Find my liner note postings on Facebook and Twitter via Minkin's Music.

As we close out the year, I wanted to touch on two of my favorites from 2012 that crossed the finish line just prior to making out my Best Of list. Although my self-proclaimed heavy twang Americana propaganda is a […]
It’s time to present my 7th Annual Best Albums of The Year Awards. As in year’s past, my voting consists of albums that I physically have in hand which were acquired over the last twelve months. Many of the selections […]

Ding, Ding … round two of mischief and discovery from the Americana Music Association (AMA) festivities. When packing for Nashville, I take along a shopping list that is vital when searching for “gold” in the new and pre-loved music racks […]
My favorite road trip is heading to Nashville for the Americana Music Association annual awards night, conference, and showcase events. What’s not to like? It’s a non-stop music Quaalude that has become jam packed with events since the group […]
New Music from Shivering Timbers, Roger Hoover, and Brian Lisik There has been some great music from Northeast Ohio players this past year, led by Akron native sons The Black Keys touring the world promoting El Camino. I have already touched on some […]
As fantasy football players go, you’re hoping to find someone that can run, catch, and score. So if you apply the same context to a musical artist, you might want to draft someone like Kate Tucker. This talented singer/songwriter who has […]
