The angst of Billy Bragg was on high octane with his inspiring performance Monday evening at Cleveland’s Music Box Supper Club. Fresh off his time spent at Folk Alliance, this Presidents Day solo performance concert was a recharge of his […]
Offering a heavy dose of Americana and twang about album reviews, concert previews, local musicians, and singer/songwriters. I have been writing Minkin’s Music since January of 2007 and found a home here on ND in 2010. My musical resume includes being the very first and longest corporate underwriter on public radio station WAPS 91.3 The Summit, a board member of the auxiliary group Plugged In at The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, the Northeast Ohio street team captain for Lost Highway Records, and a former board member of Friends of 91.3 The Summit. I am a Charter Member of The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland, a voting member of the Americana Music Association, and a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame & Museum in Nashville. A man who still plays Lp’s on his vintage Technics turntable, you can usually find Jay at area concerts and record stores looking to find new music that stirs his soul. Find my liner note postings on Facebook and Twitter via Minkin's Music.

A large cluster of industrial buildings that still remain on Cleveland’s near east side were once home to iron foundries, motors, tube, metals and machine works. Named after the once thriving Tyler Elevator Company, the area now is the hub […]

What an incredible Sunday night was lined-up as the Alejandro Escovedo / Jesse Malin tour blew away the faithful at the Music Box Supper Club. The constantly touring Escovedo is riding the wave with his just released Burn Something Beautiful […]
The stage was set Thursday night at Music Box Supper Club with two circular Sontronic microphones and a box wrapped around the center mic stand emblazoned with the words “Chatham Co Line”. When four gentlemen took the stage wearing suits […]
I guess it’s time to call you out. Over the last few years, the selection committee had been announcing nominees that made many folks scratch their head and wonder. It seems that the ballots sent out to your over 600 […]
Johnny Cash was a musical legend who made an impact on rock and roll as well as country music joining just a handful of artists that have been enshrined in both hallowed halls. The Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame and Museum along […]
Spending Thursday evening in Cleveland was a long way from a night in Nashville during AMA week, but there was a saving grace being at Music Box Supper Club. Toasting some nice autumn ale with my wingman and partner-in-crime Dale […]
Northeast Ohio has been in the spotlight recently from getting off the schnide with a professional sports title by the area basketball team, hosting a political party convention, and having our boys of summer contending for the pennant. Over the years […]
