It’s been awhile since “The Experience” has made a full-length record, so I was very excited to receive an email from Compass Records that not only did they sign a new artist, but that a new album was in the works. If you […]
Offering a heavy dose of Americana and twang about album reviews, concert previews, local musicians, and singer/songwriters. I have been writing Minkin’s Music since January of 2007 and found a home here on ND in 2010. My musical resume includes being the very first and longest corporate underwriter on public radio station WAPS 91.3 The Summit, a board member of the auxiliary group Plugged In at The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, the Northeast Ohio street team captain for Lost Highway Records, and a former board member of Friends of 91.3 The Summit. I am a Charter Member of The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland, a voting member of the Americana Music Association, and a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame & Museum in Nashville. A man who still plays Lp’s on his vintage Technics turntable, you can usually find Jay at area concerts and record stores looking to find new music that stirs his soul. Find my liner note postings on Facebook and Twitter via Minkin's Music.

I can relate to Joseph LeMay. If you haven’t heard of him, well you’re going to now. LeMay wouldn’t get mentioned here if he was just a sandwich maker in Nashville, TN. Well, maybe depending on the type of sandwiches … […]
I was a senior in high school when Kid Leo from Cleveland’s iconic flagship radio station WMMS queued up some songs from a new band hailing out of Gainesville, Florida. Little did I fathom that some thirty-eight years later I would be eagerly awaiting […]
It’s time for the mid-summer classic and many well-deserving artists deserve their day in center field. In 2012, John Fullbright released his debut record From The Ground Up, that brought much love to the then-24-year-old singer/songwriting phenom hailing from Okemah, Okla. Honored with my […]
Otis Gibbs jokes around the house that he has done everything he can to remain obscure without realizing it. He has been hitting the pavement for the last 12 years, traveling through America and Europe, performing original music and garnering fans […]
This has been one of the most prolific years for outstanding record releases. It was very difficult to narrow down my choices; especially for my critic’s pick Top 10 turned into No Depression. As I’ve broken it down in the […]
Jason White is returning home. The road from Nashville back to Cleveland will now and forever be bittersweet for the former University School graduate who followed the path of hope and dreams as a singer/songwriter. In a span of a […]
It’s OK in my book if you come late to the party, just as long as you eventually get there. Like me, you most likely have a laundry list of artists that you didn’t get exposed to until a little […]
Ding! Ding! Round 2 of new records showing up in my mailbox is about a debut album that knocked my socks off as soon as it began playing. The Nashville based Escondido is the collaborative effort of Jessica Maros and Tyler James who released their debut […]
NEW MUSIC FROM RED TAIL RING IS GORGEOUS Since I’m working at the Mr. Bojangles rate with this night job, postings are weekly as much as possible. My mid-day excitement comes when the postman is delivering music with the mail. […]
