Dr. John has been playing New Orleans jazz, blues, voodoo rock, what have you, since the late 1950s. Now, at the age of 74, he reckons it is touch-and-go whether that special Big Easy culture and sound he so loves […]
I have loved music since hearing Elvis singing about a hound dog. Grew up with The Beatles, Pink Floyd and Little Feat. Lived in America for years before returning to Europe. Result is a brainful of bluegrass, country, blues, jazz, rembetika, zydeco, rock, soul, world and hip hop. And I like classical and opera, too. Come follow me on Twitter @musicJJMG

You can find music anywhere. So how about beer being pumped from an old saxophone in Istanbul. Magic.
Pink Floyd has announced its first new studio album in 20 years will be released on November 11 – an event that has some people very excited. The Endless River is a tribute to Rick Wright, the band’s keyboardist who died in […]
You can’t get much more New Orleans than Dr John and Louis Armstrong – so an album of the first playing the latter is something to get excited about. “Ske-Dat-De-Dat … Spirit Of Satch” promises a lot and for the […]
There’s probably a bit of intentional irony in Richard Thompson’s latest offering: a year after Electric, he gives us Acoustic Classics. If the British balladeer is trying to say “I can do anything”, he is pretty successful. Acoustic is a […]
When veteran California rock band the Eagles hit the stage in London on June 21, there was no pretence about why people had come to see them or what the band was expected to do. It was a case of play […]
