Birdsong's lyrics will reach you on a personal level. She is a skillful fingerpicker who has been playing since her early teens. She refers lovingly to her Santa Cruz custom koa guitar as her "most prized possession." Birdsong describes herself as a late bloomer who is grateful to have had the chance to fulfill her dream of making a professional album. A five year breast cancer survivor, she feels particularly triumphant. Birdsong dedicates her CD, CRAZY WISDOM, to the memory of her mother, who always told her to try and do the right thing.
The album, CRAZY WISDOM, features Birdsong's songwriting, acoustic guitar and lead vocals. The band's arrangements combine harmonies and textures with a rich acoustic/electric sound in the Americana tradition. The album has dynamics which range from full rock band to stripped down and unplugged. Stylizations range from jam band (“The Right Thingâ€) to ethereal (“Water Wind and Touchâ€), to country blues (“Hey†and “Strange Gameâ€) to folk anthem (“Shineâ€). The songs have a quality of familiarity -- they touch the listener intimately.
Before moving to the mountains, Laura resided in Montclair, New Jersey for six years where she met the members of her band. Featured on CRAZY WISDOM are regulars from the Montclair music scene, Bru Rossman (six- and 12-string acoustic guitars, bass, electric guitar and vocals), Mike Ferrara (pedal steel, electric guitar, bass and vocals), Billy Karcher (mandolin, electric guitar and vocals), Gerry Griffin (bass) and Dave Moore (drums and percussion). Additionally, Delaynie Rudner and Meg Beattie provide angel choir vocals on several tracks. The album is self- produced, engineered and mixed by Don Sternecker at Mix-o-lydian studios in Lafayette, NJ and mastered by Grammy winner, Gene Paul (Killing Me Softly). Laura is extremely grateful for her collaborators and is humbled by their talent.
A lover of nature and animals, she adopted her last name from the joy she experiences waking up to the cacophony of wild birds outside her window.
Crazy Wisdom, Laura's long awaited studio album, is now available on CD Baby.

I’m hoping that by writing this, somehow I can make sense out of the reality that I have made an album and I’m going to release it to the world. Nobody knows me outside of a small circle of friends.
