Simeon Peebler is a Folk-spirited singer-songwriter based in Chicago. Since 2011 he has released two albums available on iTunes and is working on his third album for release in 2017.
The Illinois Entertainer reviewed "Missing Anchor", saying "With his leftist lyrical bent, crisp acoustic folk, and punchy rock attitude, Simeon Peebler traces a clear lineage to protest music of the 60s."
Often posting songs and demos on SoundCloud, Simeon's music has been streamed thousands of times over the past year, and he actively uses social media technology to reach an even wider audience. His tracks have been featured on the WGN Radio, Chicago Mixtape, WLUW 88.7, and he has recorded a podcast with the internationally known Chicago Acoustic Underground.
Over the past year Simeon opened for touring acts, and has been performing locally at dozens of local and regional venues and festivals. He actively participates in area songwriting groups, and regularly attends Folk Alliance International regional conferences.
Simeon first learned how to write songs at the Chicago Old Town School of Folk Music and the community there has been a great foundation for his projects. He has written and performed many songs in relation to current events which include songs about Nelson Mandela, Trayvon Martin, Philip Seymour Hoffman, the Boston Marathon bombing, Chelsea Manning, drone wars, immigration, and poverty. Michael Lohr of the New Renaissance Magazine said, in reviewing Simeon's last album: "Woody Guthrie once said that he was not a songwriter, but a journalist. I think Simeon Peebler has just earned his journalism credentials."
Simeon has performed his music at the following venues and festivals: The Hideout, Chillfest Chicago, Glenwood Avenue Arts Festival, Wicker Park Farmers Market, The Heartland Cafe, Silvie's Lounge, The Elbo Room, Abbey Pub, Act One Pub, Fayette Opera House, Lilly's, Gallery Cabaret, Flat Iron Building, Folk Alliance Midwest Region conference in St. Louis (Performance Lane), Cubby Bear Wrigleyville, Lizard's Liquid Lounge, El's Kitchen, Hidden Shamrock, Grafton Pub, Curtiss Hall (Fine Arts Building in Chicago), Tonic Room, Hungry Brain, Transistor Chicago, Phyllis's Musical Inn, Horseshoe, Friendly Tap (Berwyn, IL), Windy City Inn, Fuller's Pub, Mother's Original, The Horseshoe, Paragon Studios, Handwritten Recording, and Uncommon Ground.

One year ago today George Zimmerman killed Trayvon Martin in Florida. This story has generated all kinds of interest in and scrutiny about the legality of holding and using guns. I’m firmly against the Stand Your Ground laws due to […]
Simeon Peebler’s first performance of his original song “It’s Time” on 12/13/2011 at Chicago’s Old Town School of Folk Music.
