This disc is a treasure. Someone sent me “Fit To Serve” in 1998 to review and this listener was ‘hooked’ from the git’ go, it was that compelling. Here was this singer songwriter who I said in my review, at […]
music was always the balm that soothed - i used to fall asleep with the radio pinned to my ear at night and generally jocko and his blend of funky R&B and blues on the radio - and for whatever reason music along with horses were the constant threads in my life no matter the setting or where i was -
grew up in nyc but not in the bustling cityscape of tall buildings and running people, but buccolic staten island, on horseback - was living on a commune in vermont when i was contacted to cook at woodstock - well that was sure a good cup of tea - lived in scotland and england as the 60s turned to the 70s - and then worked on a ranch in arizona which turned into working in the film industry - which turned into reviewing music when i called a company to check on a book i ordered and got into a discussion with the author about music in the early 90s - still love horses and music still do photos of both -

Amy Black went back to the FAME Studios to record this and gathered up producer and bass player Lex Price and the legendary Muscle Shoals keyboardist, Spooner Oldham, as well as horn section leader Charles Rose to make it more of […]
Voo Davis – Midnight Mist (Deluxe Edition), Butter & Bacon Records There is an overlying ‘heavy’ vibe about the way he approaches his music, not overtly ominous, however a kind of ‘mist’ that envelops the overall feel of the music. This talented […]
This is the first Jimmy LaFave disc in what is too long a stretch for this singer-songwriter. He often seems to fly under the name recognition radar. When he comes out with a new disc, there are all these cries […]
Old Becomes New Again, From Across the Seas You may scratch your head wondering who the hell Shoutin’ Red is. Well, her name is Felicia Nielsen. Does that help? Probably not in any way unless you happen to be clued into […]
