Best Historical Album at the 2017 GRAMMYs: Bob Dylan, The Cutting Edge 1965-1966
Three cheers and more for Steve Berkowitz and Jeff Rosen, compilation producers, and Mark Wilder, mastering engineer, for their GRAMMY win this afternoon. Bob Dylan’s official Bootleg series has only gained in breadth, depth and content since its dazzing debut with Biograph (1985). Biograph marked the beginning, please recall, of the boxed set for rock and popular music; though it’s not technically The Bootleg Series Vol. 1 (which came, along with Vols. 2 and 3, in 1991), it started all this.
Here’s the review I wrote for No Depression of The Cutting Edge prior to its release in late 2015. Enjoy the links and listens as you celebrate a truly deserving winner.
