Blow Up Biscuits with the Ladies Gun Club App
I admit it: I’m not an expert on apps. From what I can tell, most of them are either overblown ads you willingly and intentionally subject yourself to, or yellow filters that make the shitty pictures you take look less shitty. It’s truly a wondrous age we live in.
I’ve got a compass app that has proven far less useful than I thought it would. I mean, it works and all, but you know, North’s that way. Ok, thanks. That should be helpful during the impending apocalypse for about 3 minutes before all the satellites crash and the Chinese invade through Mexico (common sense, people).
I have played with some band apps that are basically clunky blogs broken into several pages, a handful of tour dates in some other town, and clogged pipelines for videos that won’t play for more than three seconds at a time (up yours, Verizon).
So anyway, Ladies Gun Club released an app. My initial thought was, “or I could just remember when you’re playing,” but that’s because I’m a jackass. Turns out I was wrong (first time). It’s not one of those totally unnecessary apps. It’s cool. You get to shoot things. Lots of things. And who doesn’t love shooting things? Communists and fish.
Not only do you get to shoot things, the app streams LGC’s “Loaded Gun” while you do it, and that song is well established as being badass. On top of that, you do most the shooting from a porch, which makes it even more fun, because porch shooting is purely recreational. It’s a good time, but there has never been one necessary shot in life ever fired from a porch.
So now you’re probably asking, “yeah, but what do I get to shoot at?” Glad you asked. You shoot at guitars, fiddles, drums, and biscuits, but you’re not supposed to shoot the keytars. That’s right– you shoot the things you love. It’s very Appalachian.
Anyway, it’s a fun game, a great way to waste time, and surprisingly soothing. You can pick it up over at the app store.
