Brian Setzer Orchestra ~ Christmas Rock! Tour 2016 at the Paramount Theatre, Seattle
Brian Setzer brought his swinging big band jazz orchestra to the Paramount Theatre in Seattle the night after Christmas for some holiday cheer. Setzer, who was one of the founding members of The Stray Cats, the legendary rockabilly band that brought that genre back to the airwaves with their hits like “Fishnet Stockings”, “Rock This Town” and “Stray Cat Strut” in the 1980’s.
Now for over 20 years, the Brian Setzer Orchestra has been touring behind their Christmas showcase, singing some of the rockin’ classics made famous by the likes of Brenda Lee, Gene Autry, Santo & Johnny, Louis Prima, Mel Tormé, Junior Parker, Carl Perkins and even AC/DC.
With a stage lit up with Christmas Trees and sparklingly lights, this 19-piece band featuring trumpets, clarinets, saxophones and trombones packs a wallop that thrilled the sold out Paramount Theatre. With a mix of Christmas songs and some back catalog gems, Brian Setzer entertains with flare and style on his classic Gretsch guitars.
Of the many highlights from the evening, the playing of Tchaikovsky’s “Nutcracker Suite” brings it all home for the holidays with a rousing instrumental blow out from the orchestra.
