Bryan Simpson to Leave Cadillac Sky, Cites Religious Calling
This just in from the good folks at The Bluegrass Blog.
Cadillac Sky frontman Bryan Simpson announced that he has decided to leave the band. In an email to the Bluegrass Blog, Simpson cites a religious calling as his reason for leaving:
“Three years ago I would have never imagined this day anywhere in my near future. But that was before Jesus Christ turned my life upside down and made me forever His in the Spring of 2008…. The longing for more time spent in complete devotion to Him combined with a desire to be more mobile in my faith has led me to this decision.
Over the last year I have felt a relentless stirring in my soul that it was time for me to leave Cadillac Sky. So, after many long months of prayer, in the summer I informed the band of my decision. From that moment I have had a great peace about it.”
Simpson will apparently be replaced by Levi Lowery (a musician with whom I’m not familiar.) Simpson offered the following praise for Lowery, “..the man that is going to move into my vacated spot, an announcement deserving of its own email, is extremely gifted and will not disappoint. I am excited to see and hear what is to come. Cadillac Sky is in very good hands.”
Lowery will be introduced in C-Sky’s upcoming tour with Mumford & Sons. The band had to this to say about the change in a note on their Facebook page:
“I am sure you are all now aware of Bryan’s decision to leave Cadillac Sky. While we are saddened to see him go we’re proud of the man he is, the convictions he stands behind and we’re so grateful for the years we have had together.
We now enter a new and exciting chapter for the band as we welcome in Levi Lowrey to Cadillac Sky. Levi is a phenomenal musician and we’re excited to bring him into the fold, starting with our tour with Mumford & Sons on October 27th. Levi toured most of 2009-2010 opening for the Zac Brown Band. He is an amazing performer, an amazing writer, and an amazing human being. We can’t imagine anyone we’d rather get in the van with than Levi.
Read on below from Levi and please join us in welcoming him into the C-Sky family. Please come see us out on the road – we know you will be blown away by this new chapter in the life of Cadillac Sky.
From Levi: ‘Over the past five months, I have had the privilege of getting to know the guys in Cadillac Sky. They have been one of my favorite bands since I stumbled onto their record , Blind Man Walking, several years back. And now I have the honor of calling them my friends. I have always had, and still have the utmost respect for Bryan. If I tried to replace him, it would ultimately end in failure. I will be bringing something different to the table, and I can only hope and pray that you like what you hear. Thank you for this opportunity. In other words, it looks like I probably won’t see my house for the next couple of years. But I assure you that I will be working hard with Cadillac Sky as well as my solo career. Thank y’all so much for your continued support.’”
