The Bacon Brothers – Philadelphia Road: The Best Of
There is something special about the pairing of sibling’s voices and how they match each other in an instinctive and natural way. The Bacon Brothers have been making music together their whole lives with Michael taking the path of full time musician and Kevin earning fame and celebrity as an actor, the pair joined forces official only fifteen years ago and have recorded a hand full of albums and toured the country with a full band. Their new release Philadelphia Road is called a “Best Of,” but the ambitious 19 track disc feels more like a collection of personal favorites since the duo has yet to achieve a “radio hit.” The songs are a mix of easy going country-fied folk pop rock all written by the brothers, with standout sing along tracks like the jangly “Old Guitars,” the lilting “10 Years in Mexico,” and the lovely ballad “Angelina.”
The new album also serves as a showcase for two new tracks from the Bacon Brothers. They teamed up with outlaw country legends The Bellamy Brothers for the country rocker “Guilty of the Crime.” The foursome filmed a saucy music video staring bad girl Shannon Doherty set in a jailhouse.
Then the duo re-wrote “Unhappy Birthday,” for the tenth anniversary of 9/11 and created a video tribute to NYC.
All of the songs on the” best of,” album have a familiar feel and are no doubt the featured numbers of the band’s live set.
