Connor Christian & Southern Gothic – 90 Proof Lullabies
Some good gritty Outlaw country right here on this album, Connor Christian and Southern Gothic are a five piece band from Atlanta, Georgia. Their music comes out soulful and true with a little bit dirt across its face, that’s because truth is sometimes dirty, sometimes it’s sad and heartbreaking, and that makes up the stuff that comes out of your speakers and/or ear pod things, its brilliant really.
Each track is a small piece of life, varying in experiences and feeling, from religious hymns to ballads to what sounds like an Irish Folk song. Evangeline is one of the best songs on the album, it’s an upbeat song that pretty much tells his lying woman to get the heck out, he just can’t wait to get rid of her. Now, the track Groundhog will make you want to grab your girl and hug her up tight because you don’t want her to leave you making you feel the heartache that is coming through with this song.
The sum total of 90 Proof Lullabies is 100% good. As different as each song is they work together creating a semblance of what life can be and what truth is. It’s a philosophy on life related to us through music. Connor Christian is one of kind in a field where most song writers are doing the same thing, his music will inspire you, will have you tapping your toes, and wanting to just sit with a beer just listening to the music.
