Corb Lund is not only a Canadian treasure, he is a musical treasure for the world to enjoy. On a warm April evening in Nashville, Corb Lund took the stage backed by a trio of players who’ve been with him for his entire career and commenced to now only thrill the crowd gathered, but give them what they needed, an amazing evening of unadulterated badass music.
Wearing plaid shirt and trademark cowboy hat, Lund tore into “Bible on the Dash,” to start the nearly 90 minute set. “Gravedigger,” “Goodbye Colorado,” and lead single of Things That Can’t Be Undone, “Weight of the Gun,” set the tone and ensured the crowd was going to be engaged throughout the evening.
“Ok we are shooting a video, so that means you’re going to be in it. So move up close to the stage and act like you’re having fun, cuz we have to play this song twice, after that we’ll take requests” Lund stated as the played “Washed Up Rock Star Factory Blues.”
With the song requests, Lund and the band dug way back into the catalog with such iconic classics like, “Chinook Wind,” “Time To Switch To Whiskey,” and “Five Dollar Bill,” A highlight of the evening was when he asked, “Any Preds fans out there?..heh ok good because Canada couldn’t put a team in the playoffs.” Lund and the band then burned through “The Hockey Song.”
“S Lazy H” was the most heartfelt song of the evening, showing off Lund’s guitar playing and immense songwriting ability. Proving that Corb Lund needs not only to be mentioned among the great players in Canada but in the United States as well. It’s time Nashville truly takes notice, because Corb Lund is the real damn deal!!
