Couch by Couchwest Day 5 Highlights
No raucous afterparty last night – we were just short staffed. Our lousy intern Toby stopped showing up and we got backlogged with videos. It’s so hard to find good help these days.
Day 5 (Thursday, March 15) started out with an amazing SXSW parody/James Taylor cover by Tyler Stenson of Portland, Oregon. You can stream some of his “real” music on his website.
The mighty Will Kimbrough took time out from his tour of Sweden to send us a video of a cool new song called “Home Economics.”
We found posters of CXCW flyers at Grimey’s in Nashville….
….and a random wall in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
Cincinnati’s Magnolia Mountain performed “Black Mollie.” Lead singer Mark Utley recently put together a benefit CD called Music For The Mountains to raise awareness about mountain top removal coal mining in the Appalachias.
Doc Dailey and Magnolia Devil covered Glossary’s “At Midnight.”
We closed with Albuquerque, New Mexico’s, Peculiar Pretzelmen performing a frantic banjo/percussion number called “The Grackle.”
Day 6 has videos from as far north as Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada, and as far south as Sydney, Australia. Both of those locations are a heck of a haul to Austin. CXCW brings the world together!
