Courtney Marie Andrews Shares Video for “Irene”
“Irene” has been a Courtney Marie Andrews fan favorite for a while, and now the Washington state-based songwriter has shared an official video for the tune. The playful clip premiered at NPR today.
Directed by Josh Perrault, the “Irene” video plays off the song’s refrain of “troublesome things” happening to “good people,” with Andrews portraying a well-intentioned grocery store employee at constant odds with her less humorous boss.
Andrews took the Americana world by storm with the release of Honest Life in 2016. The album, which wove golden threads of Laurel Canyon folk into a tapestry of modern Americana, landed on a number of year-end best of lists at outlets including Rolling Stone Country and the Bluegrass Situation.
