Crowdfunding Campaigns of the Week: Charlie Faye, Iron & Wine, and Lone Bellow
I’ve written a lot about how much the crowdfunding world dries up in the summer, as acts turn their focus away from the studio and into the clubs and concert halls. Well, if this week’s new batch of campaigns popping up are any indication, that drought might just be over. There are far too many new campaigns to feature in one column, but never fear, they’re all queued up for future weeks. This week, we’ll focus on the upcoming Americana Music Festival and take a look at three past and future AMA Showcasers.
Charlie Faye and the Fayettes- The Next Record
Charlie Faye and the Fayettes rocked the Americana world with their debut album. Bringing the ’60s pop-soul girl band sound of groups like The Ronettes and The Shirelles into the 21st century, the trio has certainly become one to watch. Now they’re writing and preparing their new, as yet untitled, album and raising funds for the production via PledgeMusic. Backer rewards include a personalized message left by Charlie and the Fayettes on your voicemail, an autographed photo album with outtakes from live shows and official shoots, and a chance to get the unreleased demos of the songs from the new album.
The Lone Bellow- Walk Into a Storm
Few Americana acts have risen as far as fast as The Lone Bellow. From playing an early slot in the Mercy Lounge at their Americanafest debut to selling out theaters, the trio has captured the ears of Americana’s youth movement as well as any band. Now, with Walk Into a Storm, The Lone Bellow are poised to go to the next level. Working with super-producer Dave Cobb, who has already worked his magic on the current “big three” of Americana (Jason Isbell, Chris Stapleton, and Sturgill Simpson), the new album is slated for release in September and up for pre-order now via PledgeMusic. Backer rewards include signed copies of the album on CD and vinyl, membership in their vinyl picking club, where the band will send you a record picked by them with a hand-written note explaining why they selected it, and a signed Fender guitar.
Iron & Wine currently resides at the top of the Americanafest 2017 lineup poster and is sure to be one of the most difficult shows to get into this year. The moniker of singer Samuel Beam, Iron & Wine’s gentle folk melodies and emotive lyrics have made him a festival favorite for years. Now he’s releasing his new album, Beast Epic, ahead of his Americanafest appearance and is offering a pre-order through PledgeMusic, along with reissues of his previous albums in bundles. There aren’t any unique backer rewards for this campaign, but backers can choose from various bundles of Iron & Wine albums on CD, vinyl, and even cassette.
