Multiple country hit songwriter, Danny Darst, has released a new disc, Danny Darst (songs from EXIT 10 the play), which features 10 original songs produced and recorded in Nashville.
While much of modern and mainstream country fail to create and merely pay lipservice to the outlaw country genre, Danny Darst’s Exit 10 manages to produce a new play and soundtrack in this uniquely American style. And, when listening to the soundtrack it becomes apparent that Darst has completely embraced the outlaw sound and his storytelling talents know no bounds.
On Exit 10, Darst tells the tale of Mike Talburt, who abandoned by his mother the day his dad was buried begins a lonesome life of traveling in the post war – Dust Bowl era until settling down with a steady job at a truck stop garage off of Exit 10 in Auburn, Massachusetts while finding a sense of belonging with a hooker named Lydia. Darst is able to bring Mike Talburt’s gritty story to life through his simple acoustic arrangments, vivid lyrics and masterful storytelling techinques.
