Don’t Miss This Show in NYC: The Reverend John DeLore at Joe’s Pub (Sunday August 9th)
Calling all NoDepression Americana Fans in NYC!!! If you’re around town on Sunday, August 9th, you should check out the as-yet-not-widely-known Reverend John DeLore at Joe’s Pub on Sunday, August 9th at 7pm.
I happened across a write-up of the Reverend John DeLore on jezebelmusic.com, and was intrigued by what the reviewer described as a collection of songs that formed a “landscape vivid with rattlesnake percussion, abandoned minor keys, and tumbleweed vocals.” At the bottom of the review was a link to a video for the Reverend’s version of a Leonard Cohen’s song, “Iodine.” I checked it out and was immediately grabbed by the vocals, the waltzing rhythm, the emotional dynamics of this performance. I then went to the Rev’s myspace, listened to a few more songs, and then ordered a copy of the album. It’s been on my playlist on an almost daily basis since I got it.
So now I’m very much looking forward to seeing the Reverend John DeLore and his band (whom he calls “the Rolling Bombers”) live at Joe’s Pub on Sunday, August 9th! And though I’m not a work-a-day person, I should mention the show is early enough (starts at 7pm) for everyone to be home at a respectable hour.
It’s a super cool venue, but seats are limited so here’s the link to buy tickets: http://tickets.publictheater.org/calendar/view.asp?id=10046
And to get a preview of his music, here’s a few links to some high-quality mp3s on musicxray.net
