Dori Freeman to Release ‘Letters Never Read’ in October
Dori Freeman made major waves in the roots music community when she released her self-titled debut album on Free Dirt Records in 2016. We at No Depression sang the album’s praises whenever possible: in a glowing album review (one of many from our community of contributors, actually), via some kind words from ND Editor-In-Chief Kim Ruehl, and in Easy Ed’s “Favorite Un-Americana Albums of 2016” list. Suffice it to say, we dig Dori Freeman around here.
It shouldn’t be too surprising, then, that when Freeman announced via Facebook on Monday her plans to release a new album this October, we were pretty stoked. Details are limited at this point, but Letters Never Read has an October 20 release date and, as with Freeman’s debut album, will be produced by British musician Teddy Thompson. Wondering what else to expect? Freeman offers a few hints, like, “lots of new songs, a couple old ones, and some super talented folks.”
