Eric Clapton
This winter is being heated constantly by hot performances of the best guitarists in the world. In different locations and on different occasions Joe Satriani, Jeff Beck, Jonny Lang, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, and Eric Clapton perform their magic in front of the audiences.
The famous Crossroads Guitar Festival, organized by Clapton since 2004, will be held once more in Toyota Park in Bridgeview. The lineup has already been announced and fans will be delighted to hear guitar masters such as the Allman Brothers Band, ZZ Top, Steve Winwood, BB King, Jeff Beck, Vince Gill, Sheryl Crow, Buddy Guy, John Mayer, and Eric Clapton himself. The show will feature British folk veterans Bert Jansch and John Renbourn, as well as the legendary Brazilian musician Joao Gilberto.
The profits from the festival benefit Clapton’s drug treatment and education facility, Crossroads Centre. The name of the founder of the festival is enough to attract the greatest musicians of our time to share a stage. This year he has a hand-picked collection of names among which are Jimmie Vaughan, Robert Cray, Robert Randolph, Sonny Landreth, Joe Bonamassa, Albert Lee, Doyle Bramhall II, Gary Clark Jr., Keb’ Mo’, James Burton, Hubert Sumlin, Earl Klugh, Pino Daniele, David Hidalgo and Cesar Rosas of Los Lobos.
On Tuesday, February 16, Eric Clapton took part in the special New York concert organized by Yoko Ono. Yoko’s Plastic Ono Band played at BAM’s Gilman Opera House. Clapton is one of the original (and currently former) members of the band. He was joined by bassist Klaus Voormann, Justin Bond, Kim Gordon, Bette Midler, Thurston Moore, Mark Ronson, Scissor Sisters, Martha Wainwright, Haruomi Hosono, Paul Simon and his son Harper Simon. The current members of Yoko’s Plastic Band include Cornelius, Yuka Honda and Sean Lennon. The show ended with the emotional performance of “Give Peace a Chance” which made every person in the audience leave the venue in a good mood humming the popular song.
Currently Eric Clapton tour with fellow guitarists Jeff Beck, Roger Daltrey, and Steve Winwood. His four-month tour began with a show with Jeff Beck and will visit Europe and the US. The first Eric Clapton show of the series gathered thousands of fans and featured some of the best known and loved songs by both musicians.
