Fargo Rock City: A Heavy Metal Odyssey In Rural North Dakota
Chuck Klosterman has written a loving and thoroughly unrepentant apology for the hair bands of the 1980s. What he calls heavy metal was merely hard rock where I came from, but thats not the point. This is: Have you ever wondered what happened to all the beautiful girls who used to be in rock videos? They disappeared about 1993, and I used to wonder where they went….it turns out that these buxom hip-grinders are, in fact, thriving. They have become part of the new metal movement CMT….the glam metal torch is actually being carried by Alan Jackson and Shania Twain. Klosterman, now a rock critic in Akron, Ohio,is more than occasionally good for such insight. And plenty of fun to read, regardless.
