Earlier this year, Connecticut musician Frank Viele — the reigning New England Music Awards’ “Artist of The Year” — announced the official launch of Bigger Beast Records, his first record label devoted to artistic collaboration and nurturing the next wave of groundbreaking songwriters. The announcement of the venture coincided with the announcement of an official release date for his long-awaited debut Muscle Shoals recorded album, The Trouble With Desire.
So far this year, Frank Viele has shared three tracks from his forthcoming album, The Trouble With Desire: “Mountains We Can Climb,” “Sleepless Nights Alone,” and “Lo-fi Goodbye.” To further introduce the project, Viele returned last week with “Necessary Evil,” his newest cut from the forthcoming LP, along with an accompanying animated lyric video. The video for “Mountains We Can Climb,” released in January, was made to look like a video game, and “Necessary Evil” is Level 2 of the game. Watch them back to back, and you’ll find the game picks up exactly where it left off.
“Necessary Evil” a bluesy, rock-infused track that showcases Viele’s gritty vocals and soulful instrumentation. The song weaves a tale of embracing empathy, showcasing his extraordinary knack for storytelling. Despite the world being a mean and often unforgiving place, “Necessary Evil” is the journey of learning to navigate life’s moral complexities with compassion and understanding. The track is a stunning standout, highlighting Viele’s finest work as an artist, and portrays his unique ability to explore deep, universal truths through his songwriting.
Says Frank, “Honest empathetic connection with other living beings is the greatest thing this planet has to offer but it comes with a lot of sadness and heaviness sometimes. One might say that it’s a heavy heart to carry but a necessary evil.”
The Trouble With Desire is currently available for preorder on vinyl on Frank Viele’s official website. Everyone who buys the vinyl gets a download code sent to them immediately to download the record in full, including additional bonus tracks. The vinyl ships at the end of July and will be available at live shows starting in August.
