With his brand new, self-titled album, West Virginia-born songsmith Rodney Rice puts on a clinic of capturing the fleeting glimmers of emotional moments in life and turning them into songs that evoke our own feelings of despair and hope, loss and love. Importantly, he delivers those lyrics with a knowing nod and wink, creating memorable characters in his songs whose foibles remind us of folks we know, each story told through Rice’s delicate balance of musical influences — from New Orleans to Nashville to Laurel Canyon to Woodstock.
Rice’s first album found success on the Freeform Americana Radio chart, while his second album reached No. 30 on the Americana Music Association albums chart after debuting at No. 9 on the European Americana Chart. His eponymous third album, Rodney Rice, was recorded in Nashville at the Bomb Shelter. Rice is on tour throughout 2023.
