FRESH TRACK: Steep Canyon Rangers – ‘Hominy Valley’

“Hominy Valley” details the story of a Cherokee scout who was poisoned by the US Army moving through what is now Asheville, North Carolina, during the Revolutionary War. The scout is buried underneath an oak tree adjacent to the neighborhood where Steep Canyon Rangers’ songwriter Graham Sharp currently lives, leading to the belief that his neighborhood is haunted. Construction is currently taking place at the oak tree where the Cherokee scout is allegedly buried, inspiring Sharp to write this song.
