Friday Night Lights
Being a musician means being on the stage and under the stage lighting every weekend; if not most nights of the week. This also means being in the lime light a lot of times. For some musicians this makes it easy to grow a big head. I know all of you know at least one musician personally who has too big of a head for their musical body; the type who’s shit don’t stink in every room they walk into. The type who knows everything about every band; at least they think they do. The type who is quick to judge every other band except their own. Unfortunately, these musicians and/or bands are not far and few between and you most likely are going out to watch one or two of them this weekend. I’m not pointing fingers, naming names, or blaming blames. I’m just putting forth an issue that has penetrated every music scene everywhere since the dawn of time.
I am personally grateful to work with such outstanding individuals. I couldn’t ask for a better group of humans to play music with, to share times with, and to live with. People can go their whole lives without meeting such outstanding people and I get the pleasure of playing music with six of them several nights a week. I’m not blogging just to brag about my situation and to talk about the people I get to play music with, but sometimes writing things out helps one to recognize the great gifts in their life. Cody Beebe and The Crooks may not be the greatest band on Earth, but they’re one of the greatest bands in my mind and I feel blessed to work with such humble and cultured individuals. Go out and support local music this weekend!
